Karoline Pelikan is a documentary filmmaker, film educator, and cultural manager.
Her projects were awarded by the Peruvian Ministry of Culture and international cultural organisations such as Alliance Française, the Goethe Institute, and the British Arts Council. Often employing participatory filmmaking techniques, her films intimately capture the essence of personal narratives and human rights issues and were part of major film festivals and markets such as Visions du Réel, PHLAFF, Conecta Chile, and Lima Film Festival, amongst others. Karoline is the founder of “EmpoderArte”, a collective that creates safe audiovisual spaces for women and non-binary artists across Peru. She teaches film workshops for women, and creates distribution opportunities for underrepresented Latin American communities and filmmakers in Europe. Karoline has also been involved in social action initiatives, collaborating with charities and educational organisations to support causes within a context of environmental, social, cultural, and political risks.
